North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren visited 2014 Swansboro (N.C.) star DeAndre Thompkins last Friday. On Monday, Georgia assistant coach Tony Ball invited him to their junior day and North Carolina and Tennessee stopped by to see him today. This Friday, coaches from N.C. State will make a return visit to see Thompkins. The 6-foot-, 175-pound wide receiver already has scholarship offers from Appalachian State, Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, Old Dominion, Penn State, and UNC-Charlotte.
Four-star Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor defensive end Jalyn Holmes has added an offer from Tennessee. He was also offered by Ohio State last Friday. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Holmes recently named a top eight of Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, North Carolina, USC, and Virginia Tech. But that has changed; as Holmes is now wide open with his recruitment. He has close to 20 scholarship offers.
2014 Winston Salem (N.C.) Parkland defensive tackle Deshaywn Middleton picked up an offer from hometown school Wake Forest on Monday. The 6-foot-2, 295-pound Middleton also has offers from Appalachian State, Duke, East Carolina, Elon, N.C. State, Old Dominion, and The Citadel.
2014 four-star Fredericksburg (Va.) Chancellor offensive tackle Steven Moss was offered by Wake Forest on Tuesday. It is his second offer in the past week (Tennessee offered him last Wednesday}. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Moss is closing in on 20 scholarship offers.
College coaches have continued to flock to Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic over the past several weeks to see 2014 four-star running back Elijah Hood. Yesterday, coaches from Georgia Tech, Michigan, North Carolina, and Stanford all made return visits to the see the 6-foot-1, 215-pound Hood.
South Carolina State picked up a trio of 2013 commitments over the weekend – Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Carolina Forest running back Harold Atkinson, Florence (S.C.) Wilson offensive tackle Justin Evans, and Forest City (N.C.) defensive end Tray Watkins.
