Vikings receiver Percy Harvin didn’t travel with the team to Chicago because of his sprained left ankle. Meanwhile, Bears QB Jay Cutler has been cleared to play following a concussion that caused him to missed Monday night’s game against San Francisco.
The
Minnesota Vikings
have declared wide receiver
Percy Harvin
out of Sunday’s game at Chicago because of his sprained left ankle.
Harvin was listed doubtful on Friday after missing another week of practice, and the team downgraded him to out on the injury report Saturday while deciding not to take him on the trip so he can continue to rest. Harvin was hurt Nov. 4 at Seattle and missed the Nov. 11 game against Detroit. The Vikings had a bye last week.
Harvin is tied for 10th in the NFL with 62 receptions. He entered the week second in the league behind Green Bay’s
Randall Cobb
in total yards, including receiving, rushing and returning.
REPORT: CUTLER CLEARED
Bears quarterback
Jay Cutler
was been evaluated and cleared by an independent neurologist, according to CBS.com’s Jason La Canfora, and is eligible to return to action Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
Cutler passed “all concussion protocols” and will start, the report said.
A source with the Bears, however, said the team wasn’t preparing any announcement and it’s possible the team would make a game-time decision on starting Cutler.
Cutler was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game after practicing on a limited basis for the second straight day, and the Bears players and coaches were optimistic.
“Jay is getting better,” coach Lovie Smith said. “He was able to do more (Friday) than he did (Thursday). He’s looking good.”
Cutler missed Monday’s game against the
San Francisco 49ers
after being injured in the previous game.
“He has progressed, which we wanted him to do,” Smith said. “It’s looking good.”
Teammates were confident Cutler would return after practicing well last week.
“He looked good,” running back
Matt Forte
said. “He should play. It’s always good to have the starter back. Jay’s very comfortable in this offense, and in the passing game especially, so we have to get the running game going to help out the passing game.”
Backup quarterback
Jason Campbell
(ribs) went through a full practice for the first time this week and is probable.
