The past couple of months have been a busy time for the five-star defensive end.
"It's been crazy -- a lot of people calling," he said. " I've had a couple of people behind me helping me get information about colleges and I just made my decision -- cut it down to that 10."
Two schools are pursuing Hand harder than the rest.
"Notre Dame and UNC are recruiting me the hardest," said the 6-foot-4, 265-pound Hand. "Coach (Walt) Bell from UNC and and Coach (Scott) Booker from Notre Dame are the coaches recruiting me."
"The extra attention makes me feel good. I want to see them practice and plan on going to a couple of practices during the spring."
Hand has already visited some of the schools on his list and plans to visit more soon.
"I've visited Virginia Tech, UVA, North Carolina, and Alabama," he said.
"I'm going to Ohio State this weekend," Hand said. "It will be my first time there, so I'm just looking forward to the atmosphere and intensity of the game. It's a rivalry -- I'm ready for that."
"I want to go to all the places that I haven't been -- Notre Dame, Florida State, Oklahoma, LSU, South Carolina, and Michigan."
The Woodbridge standout's season did not end the way he wanted, but Hand is focused on the future.
"My team, we went 6-5 and lost in the first round of the playoffs to Battlefield," he said. "Of course we would still like to be playing, but we are going to get back together and hit the weight room hard."
Now that he has narrowed his list to 10 schools, Hand will take a step back from his recruitment.
"I'm going to take a break from recruiting and hopefully I'll chop the list in half in a couple of months," he said. "I'm just going to go at my own pace."
"My goal is to try to commit after my senior season. I definitely want to take all my official visits and see how I like each school."
Hand finished the season with 110 tackles, 16 sacks, 40 tackles for loss, two pass deflections, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
